Milestones
As all good things, Redstar Aviation started with a mission to improve care in the air. Since then, Redstar Aviation has developed into a market leader – both nationally and globally. Find out more about our milestones as we look back on more than three decades of success.
With the addition of 4 ICU-equipped PZL Swidnik MI-2 helicopters to the Redstar fleet, heli-ambulance services in Türkiye were initiated for the first time.
Having contributed immensely to the implementation of international standards and the establishment of local regulations, Redstar was granted the first Private Ambulance Service Operating Certificate for air ambulance services in Türkiye.
Redstar led the voluntary Search & Rescue efforts and medical evacuation operations following the 1999 Marmara Earthquake – a tragedy that devastated Türkiye. With continuous medical evacuation missions, 290 patients were transferred to suitable hospitals. Numerous logistic and Search & Rescue flights were carried out. Furthermore, Redstar called its many international partners to action, helping with the accumulation of international aid to the disaster zone. These efforts did not go unnoticed, and Redstar was granted the Igor I. Skorsky Humanitarian Aid Award by HAI – an accomplishment Redstar takes enormous pride in.
Founded in Izmir, Redstar re-located to Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen Airport (LTFJ) .
Redstar enrolled in the ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management System with the purpose of ensuring and validating that all activities and procedures are carried out systematically, and within international quality standards. Updated to ISO 9001:2008 in 2010, Redstar is currently accredited to leading international quality certification organization TUV.
Redstar purchased the first Eurocopter BO105 LSA-3 (Super Lifter) type Helicopter Ambulance in 2004. In time 3 more were added to Redstar’s aircraft fleet, 1 in 2005 and 2 more in 2008.
Looking out to further improve on its Air Ambulance capabilities, Redstar acquired a BAE Jetstream 32 EP type aircraft and started operating it as an ICU-equipped Air Ambulance. The Jetstream can transport 19 regular passengers or a combination of 2 ICU stretcher-patients or 3/4 seated patients.
Redstar served as the offshore emergency medical & logistics service provider of the Deep water oil and gas exploration project conjointly executed by BP and TPAO in the Black Sea. As a part of this huge project finalized with complete success, Redstar built a helicopter hangar within Trabzon International Airport and provided employment and training opportunities for countless local personnel.
Redstar has pioneered the provision of Heli-ski services in Türkiye for the first time in the history.
Following the successful conclusion of the BP project in 2005, Redstar offered and proved its vast experience and perfect track-record for a similar project that Petrobras conducted with TPAO in 2009. Redstar’s services for this project included staff and equipment transfer and Air Ambulance support for the staff in Leiv Eiriksson– the drill ship anchored 180nm off the shores of Samsun. Having proven itself as the perfect solutions partner in Türkiye, Redstar’s world-class offshore support services also contributed to the success of later projects TPAO conducted with global energy giants such as Chevron Texaco and Exxon Mobil.
